Because European Beaver was eaten to near extinction and it doesn't respond well to rehabilitation, except where I live, which is why I can continue eating it. Had one yesterday actually.

That's also the real reason why Columbus discovered America. Now that North America has gained independence the access to beaver produce is once again scarce in western Europe. That's why their quality of living has been slowly declining for the past couple of decades

I have not. I did touch boar "fur" though. And it was shit. Felt like nylon grass.

It's very different to boar, it's actually soft because of the secondary water-repelling layer. Boar is coarse, that's why you never see coats made from them

I wasn't really comparing the two, I just wanted to insert the fact that I got to pet a boar once. And how my initial excitement became disappointment when I touched it and it was like touching some stiff plastic hair.

Two different species. Euros nearly hunted the Eurasian beaver to extinction centuries ago, which made the North American beaver that much more valuable. Fortunately, Yakub's creations realized the error of their ways in the early 20th century and have managed to successfully reintroduce Eurasian beavers across the continent. They're not evenly distributed though, most of that million live is Scandinavia, Baltics, Belarus and Poland. It's still considered a protected species pretty much everywhere else. Western euros still have a lot of work to do if they want to be able to hunt them :marseyeatingbeans: or have them do unpaid labour like constructing dams
