Many dogs enjoy resting out of the way, my old dog liked lying down under my computer desk. I was specifically insulting people who lock their dog in a cage for hours on end and then go "it's like a den bro, trust me bro." If you never lock the cage this post isn't about you

A crate has less viewable/open areas. It is more restrictive rhen a cage so they cant see as much and go to bed.

They used to just bury dogs in a hole for hibernation.
