That, and they could sell these mice as a way to help drum up profits that can be used for further trying to deextinct species. They're cute, they tie back to a cause that people can get behind, and maybe by having a lot of these little dudes it can be easier to see if there's any underlying health issues that come about with the addition of this gene compared to other mice.
