I’m tired after work, playing Stellaris MP against my better judgment, and here – the Hole is expiring, again… Maybe my next refreshment post will be meaningful (finally), but this one is ad Hoc like the last few.
Anyway, lately I saw Ecce Homo in a comment here and some people were not familiar with. So I thought I’ll post it again because it’s funny.
I had a backstory for it written up, but I decided to ditch it, since I assume 90% of people are aware of it. I may post it in the comment for posterity. Or not.
Some people think the restoration is disrespectful, I disagree. It’s actually a genuine attempt of a religious woman to try to restore a piece of art, rather than an act vandalism or anything malicious. Criticizing her irresponsible decision to restore it on her own is understandable of course. Critizising her art skills is more than warranted.
Apparently many journ*lists said the original painting was of low artistic value (even Wikipedia says that they said that, why should care what they think?). While I find it unremarkable, it’s functional, and competency crafted. Saying it’s better now is a bit disrespectful towards the original painter who had more skill than any Journo.

Backstory for those not in the know (I have written it as part of the post, but changed my mind, and now I changed my mind again, I need sleeeeep):
Ecce Homo (the name actually means Behold the Man btw, it’s not the other homo related) is (kinda was) a painting by Elías García Martínez (some painter idk), and depicts Jesus. It is painted inside a church in Borja (
ItalySpain).Here it is before renovation:
In 2012 the painting was in not the best condition, and Cecilia Giménez a local woman attending the parish upset with its condition decided to restore it. I haven’t found much about her other than that she was 81 then, so she is 92 today. One thing that is for certain is that she was not a skilled artist. The results were as follows:

STOP POSTING ABOUT SNEED! I'M TIRED OF SEEING IT! ANONS ON 4CHAN SEND ME MEMES, ON GROOMERCORD IT'S FRICKING MEMES! I was on a board, right? and ALL OF THE THREAD was just sneed feed and seed memes. I-I showed season 11 episode 5 of the simpsons to my girlfriend and I said "hey babe, when the joke means frick and suck, HAHA DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DU DU NUH NUH NUH, I fricking looked at a barn and said "THAT'S A BIT SNEED" I went and bought a hooker, and I said "FRICK AND SUCK? MORE LIKE SEED AND FEED" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHGESFG
I can't fricking take it. I see an image of a random place posted and then I see it, I fricking see it. "Oh that looks kinda like the feed and seed" it started as. That's funny, that's a cool reference. But I kept going, I'd see a man who looks like sneed, I'd see a fat guy who looks like chuck, I'd see a barn that looked like feed and seed. And every time I'd burst into an insane, breath deprived laugh staring at the image as the words SNEED ran through my head. It's torment, psychological torture, I am being conditioned to laugh maniacly any time I see a simpsons reference. I can't fricking live like this... I can't I can't I can't I can't I can't! And don't get me fricking started on the words! I'll never hear the word feed again without thinking of sneed. Someone does something bad and I can't say anything other than "Frick." I could watch a man murder everyone I love and all I would be able to say is "frick and suck " and laugh like a fricking insane person. And the word "sneed" is ruined. The phrase "feed and seed" is ruined. I can't live anymore. Sneed has destroyed my fricking life. I want to eject myself from this plane of existence. MAKE IT STOP!
