Even when it comes to stuff that's a bit more grounded, like transcripts of speeches, obviously what's written down is gonna be an idealized version of what was actually said.
That doesn't make it useless of course. It just shifts how it should be read. Reading history the way someone wants us to read it still tells us about the author's views.
