What do you think that Jesus would think of Church? In general - not just Catholic or Protestant. Do you think Christianity as a whole lives up to His ideals?

Is the Pope a figurehead worth following in this day and age?

The answer is you cannot at all live up to the ideals, so the lord had to die on the cross for our sins - only through him are we able to get into heaven. Good deeds will do nothing, only by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior are we allowed into the kingdom of God.

Also the modern day pope is as christian as I am a 13 yo anime girl.

Why not?

only by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior are we allowed into the kingdom of God

Do you think it's possible that this is mistranslated or changed? Something so selfish doesn't line up with the rest of what Jesus said, imo.

Those are basic tenants of the religion.

God does not need to fulfill your opinions on what you consider "good" or "fair".

People die in sweat shops for your comfort, in wars for your leisure. What good deed do you believe would justify the sins you have committed simply by being passive,.let alone the ones you actively commit?

no

no. who do you think i am? I don't agree with your idea that living my own life or being "passive" is a sin. Can you point to scripture that says so? I'm also particularly interested in your take on what Jesus himself would think.

You know why you can't get into heaven simply because of good deeds on the scale?

Answers like that. It's never your fault.

Only until you prostrate yourself to the Lord and work to serve him for his sacrifice - rather then pitifully for some reward - can you truly do good in this world. When you do good deeds for a reward - rather than through faith - it can become quickly selfish and self serving. Similar to flying a private jet but not using plastic straws. But many do not have the life experience to understand this. I'd be surprised if you do.

What would Jesus think? I think he'd want you to be unconcerned with his thoughts, but to do as much good in his name, and try your best to limit your sins.

You misunderstand me.

When did Jesus ask this? He asked only for our belief. And indeed, if he thought this way why did he let John baptize Him? What are your thoughts on this, btw?

Why wouldn't he want me to try to identify with His thoughts?

Neighbor if you want scripture drops go to church I work in IT

>why wouldn't he want me to try to identify with his thoughts

The bible is supposed to be that. If you pray and have faith you will eventually find answers, though not as quickly as you think

Asking for God's opinion on society at any point in creation and asking for anything other then "darnation" is selfish in itself. This isn't your supervisor giving you biyearly reviews, it's.fricking God,.and we are sinful.

Shouldn't you be able to defend your ideas?

it's.fricking God,.and we are sinful.

And what do you think Jesus himself thought of that? You're Christian, what did Christ think? Not your church?

I literally told you what I thought God would say/think and you still ask that question.

And at the end of the day, I don't really care what you think and I'm not trying to convince you of anything. If you want these answers, go to church.

To clarify, are you asking where did Jesus ask you to prostrate before him?

If Jesus chose to hideously mutilate and sexually abuse children out in public, you should not Question the Wisdom behind His actions, but rather ruminate upon your own actions and prostrate yourself before your Lord. It is pure ego and folly to believe that you may even discern the Lord's plan for you and this world for yourself.

Limit your sins, serve well and accept HIM into your heart.

What is pure ego?

Pure Ego is to Question the Wisdom and Will that has existed since time immemorial. What makes you think you're capable of questioning the actions of God when you haven't even lived for a fraction of the time He has? It took God seven days to create the world, and yet you believe you can refute thousands of years of Theosophy and His Teachings. Go ahead. What problems do you see with the Will and His Law? Thousands before you have scorned him and say "God am I." and have been cast down to the Prison of Satan. It's just how it is.

God gave us the divine ability to question, not questioning would be equivocal to spitting in the Lord's face.

Sweatshops I can agree with because you are able to avoid those products. But I refuse to believe that you're culpable for wars because it's near impossible to opt out of society

I don't think that either of those were within Jesus's message.

I can't see the image, but I'm almost certain it's another reference to how we cannot understand the nature of God.

I once asked a pastor (and we were having this same exact discussion) whether babies who pass shortly after birth are unable to go to heaven (was going for objectively not guilty of any wrongdoing.) This neighbor said yes.

Jesus sounds like he was a decent dude till some butt hat started larping as him (and that's how we get this whole "accept Jesus or ur doomed")

I think it really depends who you ask. I believe you can have the capacity to sin if you are a baby, but that also brings up questions of "could you live a sinless life theoretically?" which is clearly not possible.

I think this betrays the misunderstanding of how bad sin is and how darned we are. The Grace of God is the greatest gift because we literally do not deserve it.

I really liked this apologists videos to show how good our evidence is for the manuscripts of the Gospels.
