What do you think that Jesus would think of Church? In general - not just Catholic or Protestant. Do you think Christianity as a whole lives up to His ideals?

Is the Pope a figurehead worth following in this day and age?

I often struggle with the idea that Jesus would have supported anything other than personal salvation. I have Jewish family - are they darned because they follow their own religion? What about literally everyone else? It just doesn't make sense. I understand that there is a "clause" where those who haven't heard of Jesus can get into heaven on good deeds alone - but in the internet era that is a farfetched idea.

IMO, what I believe:

If Jews were still following God they would be Christian. Talmudic Judaism is a offshoot of Judaism in opposition to Christianity.

If someone had the Gospels presented to them and rejected them, then yes they are darned.

If they give their "best effort" with the evidence presented to them (Romans 1:19-20) they will be judged based on what they knew.

I'd say going into the weed is difficult because you'll get answers from Catholics (works is needed for salvation along with the Grace of God and it is possible to lose this salvation), Prots ("by faith alone" generally), but also Calvinist Prots ("by faith alone" but humans are so far from God it is literally impossible for you to accept him unless he chooses you as an elect), and also many variations of all these.

People live their own lives and follow their own customs, I'm hard pressed to find any good reason that how I was raised has any more universal truth to someone else's on the other side of the world. In that same vein I don't really care for Christian church attempts to justify it, either. I like church and understand wanting to keep with tradition in that manner but I can't merge my own spiritual beliefs with it.

Do you accept that there is a Truth for these questions?

I believe Jesus rose from the dead. That is a truth statement I am making.

It's not about what is a feel good life philosophy, I'm saying I believe this man was the Son of God and what he said was God breathed.

What questions?

If you are who I remember, we spoke about early Christian texts that go against what the church said. They are older than the church, they're just old testimonies of times when things weren't written as often. How do you reconcile that with your beliefs, if they are so sure? You can be spiritually secure in your own right without those same beliefs darning others who think different than you. This type of thing isn't even up for debate, though. There were many different thought processes that came around from Jesus's time. What makes your's correct? Is it just because your church was the best at burning books? lol

Is there a true religion.

Old writings

I mean based on my research we simply do have the old writings and the ones that were discarded are agreed upon as forgeries. We have more manuscripts for the Gospels than any work of antiquity and they line up with each other remarkably well. There wasn't a cabal behind this collecting the "correct" scriptures.

You can be spiritually secure in your own right without those same beliefs darning others who think different than you.

I'm very early in my growth as a Christian and maybe my thoughts will change over time, and I wholeheartedly believe in a liberal society where we can hold fundamentally different beliefs even if I disagree with them on an objective basis.

Is there a true religion.

Is there? Your dogma is quite literally what Jesus spoke against. I don't think you're wrong in your way, good luck in your growth.

Sure. I hope you remember, read, and care about what he actually said and don't worship him like a pinned doll you hung over your fire place like everyone else.
