The first article of the recently passed “Law that Recognizes Rights of the Conceived,” or Law 785, establishes the unborn as a subject of rights with full status as a human person. The second article guarantees the conceived child's distinct genetic identity, unique and unrepeatable, independent of the mother and endowed with its own personality.
Article 3 of the new law recognizes the rights to life, health, moral, mental and physical integrity, identity, free development, well-being, and other rights that benefit the unborn human being.
As for the current Civil Code, Article 1 makes a distinction between the conceived child and human person by establishing that “the human person is a subject of law from birth” and thus leaves room for arguing “but not from conception.”
As amended, the Civil Code states: “Human life begins with conception. The human person is a subject of law from his conception. The Peruvian state recognizes and guarantees respect for the dignity of the conceived child, as well as its right to life, individual identity, mental and physical integrity, as well as to freely develop in the womb [i.e., without external interference].”
Article 5 of the law, referring to the “rights of the pregnant mother,” establishes that “the state guarantees the pregnant mother's access to health, as well as the information required for health care and nutrition of the conceived child during the gestational process.”
The final Article 6 states that “in situations of high medical risk, in which the life of the mother and the conceived child is endangered, health professionals are obliged to inform [the patient] of the diagnosis, treatment, and effects of these on the health and development of the pregnant woman and the conceived child.”
“In the event that the treatment endangers the life of any of these,” the article continues, “it is up to the mother or spouse, cohabiting partner, or relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity and first degree of affinity, to decide regarding the medical actions to be carried out.”

Greetings all. I have but one question - was Jesus decayed when he arose after the third day. He was not in a freezer. The body was kept in a tomb, and while they may have been able to preserve his flesh with oils, his organs would have started decaying. My research tells me by day 3 his organs would be useless.
As soon as breathing and blood circulation ceases, decomposition begins. An acidic environment is created which begins to rupture and destroy cells. Internal organs begin to decompose and muscles begin to stiffen after three to six hours. Muscles stiffen to their peak at about 12 hours. At this point blisters appear on internal organs an on the skin, sometimes providing a sheen on the skin. By three days, internal organs have decomposed.
https://www.faresjradel.com/the-stages-of-human-decomposition
When Jesus was resurrected, he still had holes in his hands (and feet? How did he walk?) so we know his body wasn't repaired. So what's going on here? The Jesus they saw would look entirely dead and decomposed if he had returned to the same body that had been sitting in a tomb for 3 days.

Translation in full below. The tl;dr though is that nothing new happened: transsexuals - those who have previously received s*x change surgery and undergone hormone therapy and have since repented their sins and are no longer deluded can receive Baptism and be godparents (pending pastoral discretion). There's nothing new here. Transgenderism isn't a factor. It simply directs to existing canon law.
Literally no different than when Francis said like a year ago that homosexuality isn't a crime but is still gravely sinful, and the news went nuts with headlines about FRANCIS SAYS GAYS ARE FINE COME GET GAY MARRIED.
Translation follows:
++++++++++++++++++
On 14 July 2023, this Dicastery received a letter from H.E. Monsignor José Negri, Bishop of Santo Amaro in Brazil, containing some questions regarding the possible participation in the sacraments of baptism and marriage by transsexual and homo-affective people.
After a study on the matter, this Dicastery responded as follows.
Responses from the Dicastery to Mons. Negri
The following responses essentially reiterate the fundamental contents of what has already been stated on the subject by this Dicastery in the past.
1. Can a transsexual be baptized?
A transsexual - who has also undergone hormonal treatment and s*x reassignment surgery - can receive baptism, under the same conditions as other believers, if there are no situations in which there is a risk of generating public scandal or disorientation among the faithful. In the case of children or adolescents with transsexual problems, if well prepared and willing, they can receive Baptism.
At the same time, the following needs to be considered, especially when there are doubts about the objective moral situation in which a person finds himself or about his subjective dispositions towards grace.
In the case of Baptism, the Church teaches that, when the sacrament is received without repentance for grave sins, the subject does not receive sanctifying grace, although he receives the sacramental character. The Catechism states: «This configuration to Christ and the Church, achieved by the Spirit, is indelible; it remains forever in the Christian as a positive disposition towards grace, as a promise and guarantee of divine protection and as a vocation to divine worship and to the service of the Church".
Saint Thomas Aquinas taught, in fact, that when the impediment to grace disappears, in someone who has received Baptism without the right dispositions, the character itself "is an immediate cause that disposes one to accept grace". Saint Augustine of Hippo recalled this situation by saying that, even if man falls into sin, Christ does not destroy the character received by him in Baptism and seeks (quaerit) the sinner, in whom this character is imprinted which identifies him as his property.
Thus, we can understand why Pope Francis wanted to underline that baptism «is the door that allows Christ the Lord to establish himself in our person and for us to immerse ourselves in his Mystery». This concretely implies that «not even the doors of the Sacraments should be closed for any reason. This is especially true when it comes to that sacrament which is "the door", Baptism [. . .] the Church is not a customs house, it is the paternal home where there is room for everyone with their tiring life».
So, even when doubts remain about the objective moral situation of a person or about his subjective dispositions towards grace, we must never forget this aspect of the faithfulness of God's unconditional love, capable of generating even with the sinner an irrevocable alliance, always open to development, which is also unpredictable. This is true even when a purpose for amendment does not appear fully manifest in the penitent, because often the predictability of a new fall "does not prejudice the authenticity of the purpose". In any case, the Church must always remind us to fully live all the implications of the baptism received, which must always be understood and deployed within the entire path of Christian initiation.
2. Can a transsexual be a godfather or godmother at baptism?
Under certain conditions, an adult transsexual who has also undergone hormonal treatment and s*x reassignment surgery can be admitted to the role of godfather or godmother. However, since this task does not constitute a right, pastoral prudence demands that it not be permitted if there is a risk of scandal, undue legitimation or disorientation in the educational sphere of the ecclesial community.
3. Can a transsexual be a witness to a wedding?
There is nothing in current universal canon law that prohibits a transsexual person from being a witness to a wedding.
4. Can two homo-affective people appear as parents of a child, who must be baptized, and who was adopted or obtained through other methods such as a rented womb?
For the child to be baptized there must be a well-founded hope that he will be educated in the Catholic religion (cf. can. 868 § 1, 2 or CIC; can. 681, § 1, 1st CCEO).
5. Can a homo-affective person who lives together be the godfather of a baptized person?
In accordance with can. 874 § 1, 1o and 3o CIC, anyone who possesses the aptitude for it (cf. 1o) and "leads a life in conformity with the faith and the role he assumes" can be a godfather or godmother (cf. can. 685, § 2 CCEO). The case is different in which the cohabitation of two homo-affective people consists, not in simple cohabitation, but in a stable and declared more uxorio relationship, well-known by the community.
In any case, due pastoral prudence requires that each situation be wisely considered, to safeguard the sacrament of baptism and above all its reception, which is a precious asset to be protected, as it is necessary for salvation.
At the same time, it is necessary to consider the real value that the ecclesial community gives to the tasks of godfathers and godmothers, the role that they have in the community and the consideration shown by them towards the teaching of the Church. Finally, the possibility must also be taken into account that there is another person from the family circle who can guarantee the correct transmission of the Catholic faith to the person being baptized, knowing that one can still assist the person being baptized, during the rite, not only as a godfather or godmother but, also, as witnesses of the baptismal act.
6. Can a homo-affective and cohabiting person be a witness to a wedding?
There is nothing in current universal canon law that prohibits a cohabiting, homo-affective person from being a witness to a marriage.

A great King am I, says the LORD of hosts,
and my name will be feared among the nations.
And now, O priests, this commandment is for you:
If you do not listen,
if you do not lay it to heart,
to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts,
I will send a curse upon you
and of your blessing I will make a curse.
You have turned aside from the way,
and have caused many to falter by your instruction;
you have made void the covenant of Levi,
says the LORD of hosts.
I, therefore, have made you contemptible
and base before all the people,
since you do not keep my ways,
but show partiality in your decisions.
Have we not all the one father?
Has not the one God created us?
Why then do we break faith with one another,
violating the covenant of our fathers?

Responsorial Psalm
R. In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
O LORD, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things,
nor with things too sublime for me.
R. In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted
my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother's lap,
so is my soul within me.
R. In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
O Israel, hope in the LORD,
both now and forever.
R. In you, Lord, I have found my peace.

Brothers and sisters:
We were gentle among you, as a nursing mother cares for her children.
With such affection for you, we were determined to share with you
not only the gospel of God, but our very selves as well,
so dearly beloved had you become to us.
You recall, brothers and sisters, our toil and drudgery.
Working night and day in order not to burden any of you,
we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
And for this reason we too give thanks to God unceasingly,
that, in receiving the word of God from hearing us,
you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of God,
which is now at work in you who believe.

Gospel
Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying,
"The scribes and the Pharisees
have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you,
but do not follow their example.
For they preach but they do not practice.
They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry
and lay them on people's shoulders,
but they will not lift a finger to move them.
All their works are performed to be seen.
They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,
greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation 'Rabbi.'
As for you, do not be called 'Rabbi.'
You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers.
Call no one on earth your father;
you have but one Father in heaven.
Do not be called 'Master';
you have but one master, the Christ.
The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled;
but whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
-Matthew 23:1-12
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Today's readings cover hypocrisy and humility. In the Old Testament, God establishes that the priests who violate the covenant will be terribly cursed. Jesus backs this up, criticizing Jewish leadership for their impiety. What sticks out is that he commands his disciples not to call anyone "father," "master," or "Rabbi." Saint Paul illuminates the point of this passage: "you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of God." Whatever holiness is found on Earth is there because God placed it. No human is truly worthy of being seen as a teacher, for everything holy one knows was taught first by God. And thus, "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled." To view your holiness as a result of yourself, rather than God's grace, is to indulge in pride. To stay humble is to remember the good God has done for you.

Fellow !christians - how do you view your use of rDrama?
During a recent sermon my pastor quoted some verses and they seem to directly attack :"grumblerss" and malcontents (dramatards).
Jude 1:16 (ESV)
These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage
Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Proverbs 4:23 (ESV)
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
This is the most notable verse however:
Titus 3:10-11
As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

I, John, saw another angel come up from the East,
holding the seal of the living God.
He cried out in a loud voice to the four angels
who were given power to damage the land and the sea,
"Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees
until we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."
I heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal,
one hundred and forty-four thousand marked
from every tribe of the children of Israel.
After this I had a vision of a great multitude,
which no one could count,
from every nation, race, people, and tongue.
They stood before the throne and before the Lamb,
wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.
They cried out in a loud voice:
"Salvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne,
and from the Lamb."
All the angels stood around the throne
and around the elders and the four living creatures.
They prostrated themselves before the throne,
worshiped God, and exclaimed:
"Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving,
honor, power, and might
be to our God forever and ever. Amen."
Then one of the elders spoke up and said to me,
"Who are these wearing white robes, and where did they come from?"
I said to him, "My lord, you are the one who knows."
He said to me,
"These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress;
they have washed their robes
and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb."

as he is pure.

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in heaven."

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord,
receiving the word in great affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit,
so that you became a model for all the believers
in Macedonia and in Achaia.
For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth
not only in Macedonia and in Achaia,
but in every place your faith in God has gone forth,
so that we have no need to say anything.
For they themselves openly declare about us
what sort of reception we had among you,
and how you turned to God from idols
to serve the living and true God
and to await his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead,
Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law tested him by asking,
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him,
"You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
-Matthew 22:34-40
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Today's readings are about the greatest commandments discussed in the Gospel. The Old Testament shows that this has been established previously: "You shall not molest or oppress an alien, for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt." It also says not to charge interest on loan, which really makes me nootice. The epistle demonstrates that by following the two greatest commandments, you will inspires others to do likewise. Now, people will often point towards "you shall love your neighbor as yourself" and use it to justify whatever it is that they do. "Jesus said to love each other so you shouldn't criticize my degenerate lifestyle." I, for one, would hope that if I was making terrible mistakes, and destroying myself, that my peers would guide me back to the correct path. The loving thing to do is not always supportive.

The Pharisees went off
and plotted how they might entrap Jesus in speech.
They sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying,
"Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man
and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
And you are not concerned with anyone's opinion,
for you do not regard a person's status.
Tell us, then, what is your opinion:
Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?"
Knowing their malice, Jesus said,
"Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?
Show me the coin that pays the census tax."
Then they handed him the Roman coin.
He said to them, "Whose image is this and whose inscription?"
They replied, "Caesar's."
At that he said to them,
"Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
and to God what belongs to God."
-Matthew 22:15-21
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I find the topic in today's readings to be a very interesting one: the role of secular governments in God's plan. In the Old Testament, Cyrus the Great, emperor of Persia, is declared to be the anointed by the Lord, and his empire's dominance over the ancient world is willed by God. I believe he was the only Gentile in the Old Testament to be referred to as being anointed by the Lord. The Persian conquest of Babylon allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem and start rebuilding it.
The second reading seems more divorced from the others, but note this: the Thessalonians are the people from Thessaloniki in modern Macedonia.
The Gospel is an infamous one. I know "repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar" is a line that many revolutionary !chuds struggle with. The idea of overthrowing the atheist government and replacing it with a Catholic monarchy is one often shared on /pol/. I think the point here is that the government shouldn't matter much to Christians. Respect its earthly authority, as you should have greater concerns than the tax rate. Any mortal government exists only because God allows it to. If conquest or revolution is necessary, it will happen. A good example to use here is Saint John Paul II. During his time as a bishop in communist Poland, he continued doing his pastoral duties, despite heavy pressure from the government not to. He never staged a revolution, he simply continued performing the Mass and administering sacraments. The rule of the Roman emperors draws some parallels to Cyrus. Jesus was born during the rule of Augustus, and performed his ministry under Tiberius. Early Christian evangelization happened under Caligula and Claudius. Let's go back to the second reading. Thessaloniki is in Macedonia, a long way from Judea. The Pax Romana of the early Roman Empire enabled Christians to travel great distances to spread the Gospel. While they faced persecution under the Empire, with Constantine, it became a Christian nation. God's role in politics is a complicated one.
