He managed to slip in a couple totally inaccurate points within three minutes: There was no chance of Iran shipping oil to Germany. And there was an ultimatum, it was just on a very short deadline and designed to be impossible for the Iranians to comply with. It's not terribly important but why did he say it?

My guess is the lack of antitank and antiaircraft weapons was decisive. Also Iran might have had 200,000 troops but it's a big country. The allies probably had local superiority wherever actual fighting was going on.
