!historychads Do you think l'empereur was a good guy or a tyrant? Would you rather side the Bongs, Austria and Russia? Or make use of the Bongs like Portugal while doublecrossing Napoleon?
Let's presume you're in 1805 and have no benefit of hindsight
(There's no Napoleonic era british soldier so the red coat should suffice).
!neolibs do you think the British Empire represented was the closest to our vision for that era?

The funniest thing I overheard was a professor telling a bunch of undergrads that Napoleon was a benevolent dictator. I laughed out loud in the hallway while walking by. I couldn't believe it. The man helped bring about mass conscription, waged a war across Europe, and killed hundreds of thousands of people. Maybe millions due to after effects like famine and riots. He then installed his friends or family as governors over provinces and countries. And his Napoleonic Code was just words. I'd get more into that, but it's ridiculous to call that man a "benevolent dictator." He was just as destructive and egotistic as Hitler, but he didn't kill the Jews en masse, so .
!historychads, disagree. I wanna fight you!

Yurops long for slavery. It's the only reason why an entire continent would allow themselves to be cucked by a French manlet and subsequently lionize the man

Napoleon good because he invaded Portugal, this led to the Portuguese Royal Family moving to Brazil, which led to Brazil's independence in 1822 and also led to Pedro I marrying Archduchess Leopoldine who became Empress Leopoldina which led to the founding of german colonies in Rio Grande do Sul (Leopoldina and her husband were patrons of it) which led to my existence.
