Been lifting for probably around a year now after getting fat during covid capping out at around 200. Got down to 160 but I am definitely DYEL tier ascetics. I've just been casually trying to eat protein and going to the gym 3 times a week (push pull legs)? Do I need to start counting calories and up my workout intensity if I wanna gain some actual ascetics?

90% of your body aesthetic is caused by diet. Keep lifting for sure, but be sure to eat a good balance of protein, veggies, healthy carbs, and other food groups in moderation. Also, be sure to minimize sugar intake, and be sure to still indulge yourself on unhealthy food that you enjoy every once in a while or you’ll just end up hating eating healthy and quit. Wishing you the best, homie

Okay cool. I'l try to up my veggie intake which isn't a lot. May also try to track protein intake so I can be sure I'm getting enough.

And try to get my mom to stop giving me sugary snacks. I find I can abstain easily if I don't have any in the house. But then my mom will come over, see I dont have snacks, and suddenly buy me a bunch of 'health snacks' that are basically candy bars.

Yeah I know that struggle with having snacks around. I’d recommend trying to give them away to friends or at work if you can.

Yeah dude definitely focus on upping your fiber intake (upping veggies is A+ way to do this). A high fiber diet is TOP tier for your metabolic health as well as health in general.

Tbh I have trouble with fiber because I have been disemboweled and don't have a large intestine. I might need to slowly ramp up and see what happens.
