For my normal stride, 7 steps is 20 feet.

That's 3,700 steps to walk 2 miles. I average between 7000 and 14000 depending on the day.

Just checked my wellness, didn't realize i was so close to the $100 bonus giftcard. Thankfully "home repair" is worth 5000 steps per hour, so only took a couple self-reported entries to get over the threshold. Last year I used the bonus towards Home Depot gift cards to buy a new grill :marseygrilling2:

But yeah it's typical for employers to offer a discount if you follow wellness programs

Home Depot is paying you for your health data?

No, my employer has a wellness program through Virgin Pulse.

You get points for sleeping, steps, exercise, proper diet, health checkups, etc. You need at least xxxxx points to get a discount on the company healthplan. The barrier is low enough that simply wearing a fitbit and tracking steps usually works. I don't even wear my fitbit at night.

But if you earn extra points on top of this, you get "Pulse Cash" that can be exchanged for retail gift cards, up to $200/year.

My work has this as well but for me it's $160 every quarter and up to $600 a year bonus HSA contribution. It's kind of a pain to do though. I'm the only one of my coworkers that does it.

unfortunately dancing doesn't actually get picked up as exercise I have to pace around for like 45 minutes a day in order for it to count.
