He's not wrong, fats will cry about it and will want daddy gubmint to step in and scold the mean companies for having them exercise for a bonus.
NYC already passed an anti- height and weight discrimination law https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/26/nyregion/weight-discrimination-law-nyc.html
I can already hear ambulance chasers rubbing their mitts over something like this.

I'm pretty certain Medicare literally already does this - you get some bonus for getting enough steps. I think it's pretty mild too, something like "get at least 5000 steps for at least 10 days per month" and you get some money added to a debit card if you do it.

I've heard of some paying for your gym membership, but never this.

I think it's on some kind of card they can only use at like pharmacies (think CVS or Walgreens, to cover OTC stuff from painkillers to bandages). Either way it does have a cash value and they definitely get it for some sort of steps goal which is comically low.
I actually wish they'd step up programs like this. Obviously there's gonna be plenty of fats who cheese it (like shaking their fitbit up and down to count extra "steps") but some portion will actually try to get healthier as a result and that's probably worth it in the long run.

Yeah even if 90% fake it, preventing the hospital costs of even 1 heart attack probably outweighs 100 fakers.

If government went halfsies on this, they wouldn't need to spend so much on healthcare.
Of course, that takes power away from bureaucrats and politicians, so .

I would quit. It's a slippery slope; One minute you're doing unnecessary cardio, the next you're begging straight guys to let you fellate them in public restrooms.
and if you give them cardio, they're eventually going to demand leg exercises.

US companies do this too, Whole Foods used to give you a higher discount if you did well on a physical.

These days, Chinese companies have to provide health insurance for their workers btw.
Bit of context here.

mandatory insurance > exercise bonus > chingchongs bypass the system by cheating > everyone gets a bonus > companies get rid of the bonus because it's too expensive

For my normal stride, 7 steps is 20 feet.
That's 3,700 steps to walk 2 miles. I average between 7000 and 14000 depending on the day.
Just checked my wellness, didn't realize i was so close to the $100 bonus giftcard. Thankfully "home repair" is worth 5000 steps per hour, so only took a couple self-reported entries to get over the threshold. Last year I used the bonus towards Home Depot gift cards to buy a new grill
But yeah it's typical for employers to offer a discount if you follow wellness programs

Home Depot is paying you for your health data?

No, my employer has a wellness program through Virgin Pulse.
You get points for sleeping, steps, exercise, proper diet, health checkups, etc. You need at least xxxxx points to get a discount on the company healthplan. The barrier is low enough that simply wearing a fitbit and tracking steps usually works. I don't even wear my fitbit at night.
But if you earn extra points on top of this, you get "Pulse Cash" that can be exchanged for retail gift cards, up to $200/year.

My work has this as well but for me it's $160 every quarter and up to $600 a year bonus HSA contribution. It's kind of a pain to do though. I'm the only one of my coworkers that does it.

unfortunately dancing doesn't actually get picked up as exercise I have to pace around for like 45 minutes a day in order for it to count.
