I think that they lie to themselves so that they can maintain an "emotional harem" of orbiters that fulfill their desire for attention while still being able to maintain the delusional narrative that they're good people.

Like imagine you suddenly realized that deep down you're a narcissistic attention whore and a lot of the stuff you do is all oriented around getting other people to think highly of you even though they're not really your friends and you don't even like them that much. It would be a really devastating blow to your ego. Most women could never emotionally survive such a shock.

So what they subconsciously do in order to shield themselves from that truth is they rationalize their own behavior with a bunch of self-serving lies. Deep down they don't really believe their own bullshit (which is why they get angry when you point it out) but as long as nobody else tugs at the threads of this mental construct, it helps them create a heroic narrative for themselves where they are The Main Character and don't have any responsibility for other people's feelings.

And before you start thinking that Pizzashill took over my account: obviously not all women are egocentric narcissists like this, but Western Feminism and the rise of social media has really encouraged these negative tendencies to spread throughout the foid community.
