Men figure out where they place you after the first date. If you take a walk around the park as your first date, they put you in the low-maintenance placeholder status (who has low standards). It may be ironic and they usually won't outright admit it, but they respect the woman who demands more on the first date (like a proper dinner) because they know she has higher standards and likely has other options as their male competition.

As a woman, when you show you have low standards, you unconsciously signify that you don't have many options and are thus lower status. And hard truth here, but men don't marry the placeholder who they see as low status and don't respect.
