All the good schools in the US meet 100% of demonstrated financial need. If you're paying for college, you're either dumb or your parents are rich.

lol, a ton of those schools will say that your parents need to kick in on 50k a year. or the good old:

>raise tuition 5k

>only raise financial aid 3k

Skill issue. Get poorer parents.

The sticker price is just a made-up number to soak rich Chinese for a "prestigious" education, hardly anyone pays it.

You don't need poorer parents, just parents who are able to hide and time their income better.

Yeah I remember filling out those forms and the school said my parents should be spending like 75% of their income on their children's colleges. It was just an absurd calculation. I assume it only works out if your parents get paid under the table.

I think the expectation years ago was that parents would save money for college.

This was before we all needed Yukons and pickups with luxury packages on 72 month loans

It was also before $200k degrees were commonplace.

Even if they did save, the costs have gone up so much so fast that a savings plan conceived in the 90s might pay for about half of a degree at a cheap state school if you're lucky. Parents of current college students all went back when the entire 4 year process was a few grand and could be paid for with summer jobs.

:marseysipping: I saw jack and shit in scholarships despite having an SAT 200 points over the average for the school I went to. They said it was because I was rich, since apparently FASFA doesn't include having 10 younger siblings in its calculations.

Yeah, so your rich parents pay full freight for you and then your younger sister gets a free ride once they're broke. The system works.

Unironically the dumbest third of kids in my math program went into "fintech". The middle third went to Wall Street or the City to do real finance instead of shitty blockchain apps, and the top third went to grad school to be mathematicians (okay maybe they weren't that smart)

Most of the good schools are also at least 50% men. But it's not really an economic thing anyways. Academia, and the public school system beforehand, is hostile to men.

'There Was Definitely a Thumb on the Scale to Get Boys' - Declining male enrollment has led many colleges to adopt an unofficial policy: affirmative action for men.

Yeah, I'm aware, same happens at my school. The reason why men don't apply as much (and why their stats are honestly just worse than womens') is because the school system is hostile to them. It starts in middle school and gets worse the higher you go.
