dramatards did me real gud by recommending Indomie noodles (so delicious), so I'm looking for a good steak seasoning. I just use salt and pepper right now but I'm looking for a change.
I don't like Montreal seasoning SORRYYYYY so is there anything that's good to put on steak when cooking it?

I'll give you one for Carne asada: Orange juice, lime(include zest), olive oil, garlic, cilantro, chili, cumin, oregano, salt and fresh pepper.
Marinate a flank steak overnight with that and slice it thin against the grain after grilling.
For any marinade you want a tenderizing agent (usually acid, but alcohol works too), oil, salt, onion and/or garlic, and some type of spice/herb. Experiment to find some combo you like.

I bet the acidic is what I am missing. I'm going to try this too!

For french-style pork: white wine, onion puree, olive oil, herbs-de-provence, mustard, salt, fresh pepper
For greek anything: lemon + zest, oregano, garlic, olive oil, sea salt
For bulgogi (korean bbq): equal parts apple and onion puree, ricewine/sherry, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar

it's poorcel noodles (prolly costs like a burger quarter or less) so like having beef in it would be very luxurious for an indonesian or something lol
it's very delicious by itself so do give it a try if you spot it rarely do you see people from 3 different continents agree on anything

I just had some of this with some leftover steak for breakfast
I cut the leftover steak fat into tiny pieces then fried it in a skillet until they were little crunchy things like bacon bits, I removed them and fried a couple eggs in the fat. I took the leftover sliced steak and rolled it around in the leftover fat just to heat it up so it stayed rare. Then I put the eggs, steak, crunchy fat, and some green onion on the noodles. That shit was so good.

Completely unrelated but whenever this comment popped up in my notifications I started thinking about your name. How is it pronounced? I've been saying it in my head like "chi" (as in chia pets) "o" (like in snow) "bu" (as in the sound a ghost makes) but I know that can't be right.

I like to do a DIY rub () with salt, pepper, fresh rosemary, fresh lemon thyme, garlic salt, and chile powder. I don't really measure anything, I just eyeball it and toss it all in the mortar and grind it up with the pestle.

huge pro tip: go to a local mexican super market and buy a granite mortar and pestle for super cheap then get 1lb of dried peppers from an asian market. they're way spicier and taste better than preground ones.

I need information here. How are you cooking the steak? What cut of steak? How does it grade?
The only acceptable seasoning for a thick, high quality cut of steak is WHOLE black pepper and kosher salt. Press the peppercorns into the meat. Let the flames hit the steak while it cooks to add a nice char, and let it rest for 20 minutes before eating. The juice that accumulates in the plate as it rests is the only sauce you need. When I'm cooking my own beef this is near exclusively what I use. If you have a 2 inch thick prime/high choice ribeye this is perfect. Works great on KC strips and sirloins too.
But if you're working with thinner cuts or lower quality meat, there are a few other seasonings I like to use.
For something like a select/low choice thinner steak (like what you'd get at walmart) I have a specific recipe I like. No specific measurements though, just do what your heart feels is best. First you mince some garlic and onions. Go easy on the onions. No, you can't use the dried shit. Then add brown sugar. Then paprika. Take your meat and add an appropriate amount of salt and cracked pepper. Then rub it down in your paste you've made. Throw it in the fridge overnight. Grill it like normal.
If you're doing a steak in cast iron, follow the other people's advice in here and go salt and pepper at first, then butter, herbs, and garlic to baste right before you're done. I'm not a fan of steaks in cast iron though, you miss out on a good char.
If you want to cook a flank or skirt steak for something like fajitas, mix a cup or so of orange juice, a few limes worth of lime juice, salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne to taste. Slice the meat (this works for chicken too) into fajita sized pieces, put it in a bag, and pour this mixture over it. Let it sit overnight but no longer than one day. You can add sugar if you want but with the orange juice it really isn't necessary.

Do you have a cast iron skillet? Ny strips or ribeyes are so awesome in them. Get the pan hot sear each side with well oiled/buttered pan, pop in a pre heated over at 410, I usually let it cook for two minutes then see where I’m at. You can get them absolutely perfect if you get used to ur oven. I usually buy like 40 dollar steaks and only use a small amount of salt and pepper

Bro, the iron skillet is the best thing ever. You don’t clean it a ton and gotta keep it oiled so it doesn’t rust. Easily my favourite cooking utensil.
