[T/W: self harm] i ate gas station samosas today

They weren't even warm, the heat lamp was broken. Good spices though and appeared hand made. 6/10

I feel like gas station food was more comfy in the 90s. You’d go in and get a hot dog or a burrito, the gas station caretaker would lovingly warm it up for you in their oven, give you a penny candy, and wish you safe travels. Nowadays, Twerkeisha and her chilrens threaten to BEAT YO BUTT when you buy some NyQuil and an almond joy. Where did we go so wrong?

Also my roommate in college got violently ill eating a gas station crab cake lmao neighbor you deserve to die after that

I had a 3am taquito in Oklahoma City while driving cross-country that was so good I turned around and backtracked 25 minutes to buy more.

It allowed me to regroup and come to my senses about continuing to drive. Checked out the OKC bomb memorial, then drove up to Bartlesville and spent the day and following night in a room at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Price Tower.

While I don’t think it’s common to make them homemade, it’s easy enough.

It’s a savory pastry of bread with pepperoni and cheese in the center. Goes great with some tomato sauce.

If it’s a “”nice”” one like a Sheetz they have a full menu and like a fast food restaurant pretty much.

Usually dirt cheap and fast, doesn’t taste bad either.

I miss my old gas station brisket spot. They got too popular and moved from the parking lot trailer to a brick-and-mortar, and now it's a huge pain in the butt to eat there.

There's a rural gas station I found about 45 mins away from me that has the best fried chicken. I was driving by and saw a line of lunchtime rowdies out the door. I knew they had to have some good fried food in there and did a u-turn to check it out.

Best gas station food I had was shrimp croquettes in Poortugal. They were the same quality as burger restaurant food, I was amazed.

It seemed like generic gas station food to me. All the gas stations had delicious food there. It's cheap by leaf standards but who knows for Poortuguese.

Gas station PXs on military bases always have these things in different flavors. Big fan of the pepperjack one. There was a period in my life where I subsisted almost solely off these, canned tuna, white monsters, and coors. :marseyboomer:

I got food poisoning from a gas station hamburger one time. It was pretty nasty looking, in the middle of nowhere, and my girlfriend warned me not to eat it, then made fun of me all day the next day when I was all pale and throwing up and shit. It tasted all right, though.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

If you had to relive your life :marseyscalped: would you eat that burger :marseyliberty2: again, given none :marseynosuchcases: of the circumstances changed?

Cos i used to get the seafood salad :marseysaladfingers: at subway when :marseyancap: it was the sub of the day and got incredibly sick :marseychonkerfoidpuke: one time, but i would have it again

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

This question requires some serious thought. If I was reliving that exact day, obviously, I would not eat the gas station hamburger, because there was nothing particularly good about it and I got very sick from it. However, if the question was closer to whether I would avoid gas station hamburgers altogether, knowing that at some point in my life they had made me sick, I would have to say no. I am not willing to give up all the gas station hamburgers (of which there were considerably many) in order to prevent a single sick spell.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Interesting, but your answer :marseyconfuseddead: seems to hinge on knowing that it would make :marseyyarn: you sick. If you had no insight into the distress the burg would cause your bowels, would you still have eaten it? Or was it one of those moments where :marseydrama: the decision could have gone either way right :marseyhesklennyyouknow: up until money :marseycarpmerchant: changed hands?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Not knowing anything about it at all, I would (and did) eat the hamburger. I would still do so even now. Hamburgers are pretty unlikely food poisoning vectors. Maybe if it was like a gas station poboy, I'd exercise some caution. I guess that's my answer. I'd be ok eating anything at the gas station except seafood.
