Just tried sake

Holy frick this is bad. I don't like wine, I don't like vodka. But this tastes like something midway in between, a watered down vodka. And then it's also warm, frick.

I'd rather chug a bottle of the cheapest samogon I can find then drink another glass of this.

Don't let anime fool you, nips have no fricking taste whatsoever.

Yeah sake is an... acquired taste and it ain't gonna taste good if you don't like wine nor vodka already. I think unflavoured Korean soju is kind of the same thing too :marseyhmm:

If you like sweet drinks you might like umeshu (plum wine) I guess, it's a foid drink but I love it :marseydrunk:

I would've thought you know all about this. I don't actually like sweet drinks, but a friend of mine came to visit and brought this. He also brought some Japanese honey drink from some fruit I never heard of, it's also bad, though not as much. I said I don't like vodka that much, but I'd rather drink that instead of this.

I tried japanese whiskey & beer not so long ago which were alright, so it surprises me this is so bad.

it's because sake is a totally different category of alcohol in itself and the brewing processes are different so it ends up tasting like that I guess, and there are really a lot of different types of sake, some drank cold, some sparkling etc etc so maybe the one you had was just not to your taste. usually the ones served warm in my experience would be the house pour sake so maybe it tastes rougher but i'm really not an expert i just like alcohol lol

@LongNose might know more since he lives in Japan

Hmm interesting. He told me sake has more to do with fungal growth than fermentation but idfk what that actually means. Anyways, intereating to know that there are different sakes, I thought it's just rice alcohol and nothing more. Probably not my thing, but curious nonetheless.

@LongNose any comments?

IMO the taste of asian liquor would be really weird if you grew up drinking the usual western ones (as i did) and it wasn't the case whereby the first time i tried sake or soju or chinese baijiu i immediately liked it because i'm asian lol

i honestly find the chinese ones to be the weirdest tasting and it's hard to describe how they even taste like, the :marseychingchong: famously served Nixon some chinese baijiu on a burger state visit to china which I can only imagine how Nixon felt tasting it :marseylaugh:

Nixon's face looks to me like he knows that he's fricked lol
