I'm waiting for my takeout order and their phone keeps ringing non-stop for orders and reservations and they have the most staff I've seen for an eatery that operates under a public housing building (cheap rents)

Even for takeouts there's a nonstop stream of people

One time I was staying at the place of one of my father's friends and he served a dinner of bread and fried bitter gourds. He was living alone and eating it himself so I suppose he thought it was normal. I don't eat bitter gourds at home, it took every bit of willpower I had to not grimace eating it. Thankfully his wife called him like a minute after I had begun eating, screamed at him for feeding guests that stuff and ordered him to get takeout.

My problem wasn't that the food was bad. It was great. But it was the whitest meal possible. My own white family wouldn't have made something so white.
