I'm waiting for my takeout order and their phone keeps ringing non-stop for orders and reservations and they have the most staff I've seen for an eatery that operates under a public housing building (cheap rents)

Even for takeouts there's a nonstop stream of people

And it's only 440pm :marseymindblown!:

I have no idea what the frick abalone is except it was a plot point in Dae Jang Geum involving that cute messenger girl. I guess it's some kind of weird ocean animal.

We have salmon here. :marseyshrug:

That and Hatchet were my favorites as a kid. Survival stories are page turners

Hatchet was high tier. Looking back on it the only one I was annoyed by reading was the Outsiders and that was just because I read it like 5 different times for school

HUH!? Abalone porridge is a Korean staple and it's really good unless it's not fresh or cooked poorly then it feels like you're chewing on rubber

Go try it if there's one near you!!

One time an ajumma made a meal for me and I wondered what strange Korean food this would be and it turned out to be meatloaf. :marseysad: it took possibly the best acting performance I've ever done in my life to convince her I wasn't disappointed.

One time I was staying at the place of one of my father's friends and he served a dinner of bread and fried bitter gourds. He was living alone and eating it himself so I suppose he thought it was normal. I don't eat bitter gourds at home, it took every bit of willpower I had to not grimace eating it. Thankfully his wife called him like a minute after I had begun eating, screamed at him for feeding guests that stuff and ordered him to get takeout.

:marseythanks: :marseytrad!:

I did make some noises about how it was fine and I could eat it to be polite but inside I was

Based politechad. It's a skill that seems to be becoming rare these days. (Okay tbh I'm basing that mostly on young cats but I bet it applies to zoomers too.)

My problem wasn't that the food was bad. It was great. But it was the whitest meal possible. My own white family wouldn't have made something so white.

:#marseyxd: I can't remember if my dad or aunt/uncle planted bitter gourds and was gifting it to each other lol

pretty funny imagining them gifting it to strangers but luckily we liked eating it hahahaha

A carendaria near me makes really good meatloaf for $1 servings with rice and it's run by an older lady named Baby who flirts with me while practicing her English. I was surprised to find that in Asia, your experience is more what I thought would occur when I asked what's best and she told me to order it. :marseylickinglips:

It's like $10 for fast food here now. :marseyraging:
