I craved these as an adolescent

My experience with animal food is that it sucks, it's simultaneously bland (in part because manufacturers care about our pet health much more than about ours and strictly limit the amount of sodium) and also has weird tastes. My pet (hehe) theory is that it's kind of like looking at a one of those "how birds see things" pictures. For example, cats can't taste sweet, and who knows how their other taste receptors are balanced compared to ours. So pet food manufacturers combine ingredients (mostly synthesized chemicals) to make it taste like heaven to pets, but to us it feels like looking at a badly miscalibrated monitor.
