IMO, this is the most accurate white people stereotype. I definitely do my best to fight it, but wypipo (especially middle class families) do tend to eat flavorless nasty looking slop. Embarrassing

my moid has a few horrifying stories of wypipo cooking that prove those stereotypes true. there are people out there who make, eat, and enjoy meals that look like they're from a food gore thread

Reminds me of this classic rDrama food lore:

Sadly most of the pictures have been lost to time

I'm learning that taking good photos of food is an art in its own right, I wouldn't discount it based on photos I've taken.

The descriptions that went with some of the (now lost) posts also sounded like food gore.

e.g. letting chicken simmer for 40 minutes.

I honestly rarely care how the food looks. Definitely not into proper plating when you move stuff from a pot/casserole onto the plate.

And seasoning is difficult. I've eaten some red beet last week and in one of the dishes you could barely taste it due to overwhelming other flavours. Wasn't a bad dish and tasted better than the other red beet one.. but yeah. always hard to balance when trying out new stuff
