My body is broken. That's not terribly abnormal. I am grateful I do not work Fridays.
People loved my food. Many, many others contributed lovely dishes. Some perhaps not so much. All were appreciated. The turnout was INSANE. I called my boss, explained that I'd overworked 2.5 hours, and surprisingly, she insisted I log the correct hours in. Guess she's in a good mood. Very grateful for extra income.
The only piece left of the chicken is my OG personal choice from hitting up the buffet table with the first wave of attendance. I'm going to heat it and my corner of leftover au gratin potatoes, chug a green smoothie, and go spend time with a special man in the nice, warm bed
To be fair, my worry was not uncalled for, that this would flop. I spent 45 mins prepping my office and another reception area, and then paced around nit picking for about half an hour more before people showed up as a group all at once! Things got busy, and fast! It was a good day! I am thankful.
WE ARE PLANNING ANOTHER BASICALLY IDENTICAL EVENT FOR NEXT MONTH, I AM VERY EXCITED NOW! The planning begins!
I'm glad it went well! (although I gotta say I told u so )

That's not surprising bb that's just (a) being reasonable and also (b) following the law and not committing wage theft, like they literally gave you permission to do it on company time they owe you that money. Still glad u got that bag tho.
I understand, Tempest. Since I'm being pretty mask off about boss, I'll just say, everytime we speak, she manages to interject that I've maxxed my hours, and if I "add more it hurts the payroll process." She.. is protective of her bottom line.
She's not the worst, she's just a unique flavor of social literacy. She's the boss, and I truly don't answer to much of anything. I like being my own department, however, there's no one who can help me troubleshoot verbalized issues. That is my biggest stressor.
I don't see why your boss would get mad at you if people are backing out of a work activity unless they're doing so specifically because of something you did (doubtful).
Unless your boss is r-slurred but I'm leaning more towards you being concerned about nothing (sorry bb not trying to be rude here).
My boss dislikes the immense successes i have achieved without her express permission on this job.
I am the entire social services dept. Cutting me off if i do not deliver is business school protocol. If it doesn't produce good enough numbers, why keep it?
Isn't this just a fun work event? I don't even know what "good enough numbers" in this case means, I thought the whole point was just to host a fun thing to boost morale, that's not really related to how many people show up but instead to whether the people who do show up have a good time.
I necessarily must meet a certain client average per day. I have not had unsuccessful special events, but I must present a process report each month that is corroborated by the site manager.
