So one of the major negatives of Singapore is our fricking weather, where a thunderstorm could erupt suddenly on a scorching hot day. That coupled with how everywhere's air-conditioned because frick the heat means that we alternate between hot and cold temperatures the whole day... and I guess I finally succumbed and got the sniffles or covid or something, which was coincidentally after a trip to our fake snow city. Speaking of the fake snow area, how the frick are people able to wear masks outdoors in the cold? It was such a horrible experience, and I can't believe people are actually advocating for it. 
Much like in the West, a chicken soup is our go to for comfort food for when we're feeling under the weather, so maybe we're not that different after all. Then again I remember how cordyceps are literally a parasitic fungus that grows on caterpillars as I slurp them down, I guess we might be that different after all... Hmmm yummy

So dramautists, what's your favourite comfort food? Any unique ones in your culture that people should know about or try?

I actually found them to be quite nice during -20C and below weather but then again I'm a Siberiacel.
It's like a scarf for your mouth and cheeks which is where it hurts the most during winter.
My favorite comfort food is probably tom yum weirdly enough, I like it even more than borscht.

by masks i was referring to surgical masks that we're required to wear, the one you were referring to i understand, trust me i do not love to be sliced by that winter wind lol.

Oh yeah, I usually wear a cloth mask that's a bit larger and more fitting than a surgical mask. Forgot to mention that, sorry lol. I wore a surgical mask outside a few times this winter and it was definitely worse than the tight fitting cloth ones but at least it prevented my beard and mustache from having icicles on it. This winter was also really warm for where I live. Usually we get at least a few days where it gets below -35C and sometimes -40C but this time the worst was only about -26C. Last time winter was this warm was about 7 or 8 years ago.
Yes, you hit the nail on the head, lol. For whatever reason I've loved food so spicy it would make the average Russian cry since my childhood and tom yum hits the same savory/sweet/sour notes that borscht does but is also spicy. Any hot and sour soup is great in the winter really.

I'm not sure where you are located, but if there are Chinese restaurants operated by Sichuan/Szechuan ( 四川 ) chinks, go for their hot and sour soup too! The moment when you accidentally bite into a peppercorn rendering all your tastes numb is one of the greatest surprise in cuisine, IMO. Most Chink restaurants probably claim to serve the same dish, but it might not be as authentic.

I know a few restaurants here owned by Chinese migrants but all of them are from northern China, either Hebei or Heilongjiang. All the Chinese foreign students I taught chemistry classes were from there too (a PhD student coworker from Harbin made banger jiaozi though).
I've wanted to try real Sichuan cuisine for a while but I guess I'll just have to order bean pastes and Sichuan peppercorns and try to make it myself until I make a trip to China.
