The comments become much more reasonable after that, politely calling OP an idiot for worrying about worrying, but they get far less engagement.
What do you think rDrama?

Neither is being attracted to kids but some legal activities warrant having the shit kicked out of you.

If it was innocent then it's ok. There's been cases of lunatics assaulting people for just taking pictures and they all fail in civil suits.
Also cases where Karen calls the pigs and the pigs hassle photographers which is clear prior restraint and a first amendment violation
Intent is super hard to prove that there was malicious or lewd intent and super important. This is the same shit they try to get people on for taking pictures that have an oil tank in the background or something. Public photography is always a first amendment protected activity

I agree, it could well have been innocuous. This is the sort of thing in which confronting a stranger is not only appropriate, but necessary. “Haha god I'm sorry, it's this cartoon game thing, I didn't want to seem like a weirdo so I figured I'd wait until the kids were gone. Here, look” is a bit embarrassing but completely acceptable and easily cleared up. Going to Reddit days after the fact is idiotic. Assuming something nefarious until proven otherwise in this specific situation is reasonable.

True but also no one is under any obligation to answer what they're doing nor can they be compelled by authority. Taking pictures is also not reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime. 4th amendment
