This is peak being a here. Any normal cartoonist would have swapped the Bush/Obama action between the two panels. Have the first show Obama painting with Bush being concerned, and the second show Bush smiling as he pushes over the ladder with the broom. But instead, by reversing the order, with us seeing Obama being pushed off in the first panel but then immediately resuming the painting in the second, we are given both immediate political commentary on his campaign's resiliency as well as metacommentary on the linear nature of time.
