Person of Interest. I'd caught a couple episodes while it was airing in 2011, but had no idea it was this good.
It starts as a smart procedural, but becomes an interesting science fiction-lite show. It's really good and one of the smarter 2010's tv shows I've watched.
I torrented Blu Ray rips and put them on my Plex server. You legitimately can't stream it anywhere. It was on HBO Max, but got pulled in January.

you are letting your (justified) seething over flanderization in adaptation make you miss out on a good book series. bobby plays a much smaller role in the books, also she is a better character. they all are tbh, every character is much more of a neutral 3d person rather than being a cliche boiled down to progressive stereotypes

I finished the series and was thinking of picking up the books since it doesn't look like they'll get another season greenlit. Have you read the whole series and does it wrap up well? Kind of tired of starting a marathon series only to have it fail to stick the ending.

it’s totally worth it and the ending is really good. no surprises or butt-pulling or twists, just a solid ending that wraps up everything. there’s enough differences that it would be worth starting from book one but if you don’t want to waste time you could theoretically start from book seven. you might be confused about who some people are and some plot beats like Alexbeing alive but nothing crazy.

Ep 1 and 2 are ok. Then it tanks hard from 3-6. It's still mostly boring until the final episode.
I like Silo because I'm interested in the story but God, everything else about it is so mid or even straight up trash.
The plot / writing is pretty sloppy at times. Rebecca Ferguson is hot and that's it. Her character is meh and so is her acting in this. Tim Robbins is alright. And lmao @ Common. Who tf thought this neighbor could act? So fricking annoying. It's Snowpiercer all over again with Daveed Diggs lol

Sanctuary is listed as drama/thriller. It's actually a romantic comedy with the set up of a horror movie - a man tries to fire his dominatrix, she's big mad. It's very old fashioned, a will they or won't they plot with an underlying endorsement of true love. Soul mates exist and your soul mate is the person with whom you can be most authentic. The tension comes from Qualley, the hooker with a not so golden heart, and Abbot, the wealthy business submissive, trying to work out whether their time together is where they become their true selves or just the needful. A job for her, a stress relief valve for him. The departure from tradition is that the characters are allowed to be non-idealized. Qualley's control is always shaky and Abbot is not so pathetic that his only option is killing her. Their threats are hollow. This puts the focus on the impasse in their relationship, and the movie manages to whip up a genuine desire to see some kind of resolution.
This is basically post-irony come to romance. A kind of reverse Pleasantville. Instead taking a stock movie and making it twisted, the movie is fundamentally perverted but the characters normie aspects constantly intrude.

I was randomly in the mood for resident evil stuff last week:
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness 4-part miniseries - Meh. Just not that interesting and overall the story felt kind of pointless.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (film) - Being a fan of the bideo games, especially the original 1+2 made this movie a fun watch, lots of easter eggs/homages to the first two games. If your not a hardcore RE fan or unfamiliar, avoid it like the plague because it's awful otherwise
Resident Evil (TV series) 2022: Yawn. Whole show is pretty trash from start to finish. The only redeeming aspect imo was a flashback scene with the late Lance Reddick as classic Albert Wesker and he does a pretty good job and I love his frickin hairstyle to match lol
