Speaking of World is not Enough, I really like Bond shooting Elektra, she deserved it but most other films would leave her alive because female villains are treated with kid gloves.

1. Subverted expectations and was relatively brutal.
2. Complex moment for Bond internally, how he views women and his duty (because he viewed her as another damsel in distress)
3. The lead up to it was extremely tense and well executed.

Die Another Day was on the TV a few nights ago.
The writing in that film was bad as well. Like in the opening sequence, Bond makes two Swiss banker jokes within a minute, as if they want to remind the audience to laugh. Or when MI6 is discussing the super-strong bad guy and out of nowhere, M monologues about taking revenge.
On the upside, Sophie Marceau is pretty good as Elektra King, and Robbie Coltrane's Valentin Zukovsky is a hoot.
