Apparently True Detective new season "Night country" is shit and the director asked simps to positive review bomb it

True Detective: Night Country showrunner Issa López has slammed “hardcore fanboys” of the show's first series, claiming they are purposefully dragging down ratings for the latest, female-led, season.

True Detective season 4 director encourages fans to support the show by leaving positive audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

True Detective season 4 was review bombed after the premiere.

Director Issa López fears the review bombing might be the result of "bros and hard-core fanboys of S1" who are upset about the changes the show is making in season 4.

After deleting her initial Tweet lamenting the review-bombing taking place on True Detective: Night Country's Rotten Tomatoes page, López posted additional Tweets clarifying her stance and noting that the show's audience score has since improved. She also stated, "I used a generalization about who was bombing. And geralizations [sic] are ALWAYS a mistake." She continued with, "SO MANY beautiful bros and TD S1 hard-core fans loved our ep 1!" See her new Tweets, below.

‘True Detective: Night Country' is getting review-bombed by “bros”

True Detective: Night Country showrunner Issa López has called out fans of the first series of the show who she thinks are review-bombing it deliberately.

‘TRUE DETECTIVE' CREATOR DELETES INSANELY STUPID TWEET

“True Detective: Night Country” creator Issa Lopez smashed the delete button after sending a very dumb tweet. The fourth season of the hit HBO mystery series premiered this past Sunday on the network, and the early reviews were nothing short of incredible.

However, not all fans have loved it, and there's been some negative reviews and backlash on social media. That led Lopez for no reason at all to blame “bros” and hardcore fans for attempting to tank the show….without any evidence that's the case!

>Current year show premiere media blitz focusing mostly on the one lead being a heya hoya foid (even though she looks like a BIPOC lol) and the diversity hire foid director blaming incels and bros for the poor audience reviews.

It's disappointing how they hollowed out true detective and ran the woke playbook on it. Season 1 was one of the best shows ever made, of course starring two of the most iconic white males in Hollywood, written by a white non Jew. Director was a hapa (half white half white adjacent). Then they made Regina George the main character in S2. Then they made a literal African the main character in S3. Now it's some white lesbo and an Indian (feather) and the victims are indigenous s*x workers I assume. Jodie foster is probably told she's privileged the whole time and she'll probably sacrifice herself at the end to save some red man's baby. Also they apparently replace the creator with some Latinx foid to show run? LOL. Yes let's blame white men as to why this isn't good. The reason it's not good is cause they are no longer involved with it in any meaningful way (though I'm assuming the cinematographer is probably a white guy cause it looks nice).

Season 1 is a show about two buttholes driving around investigating a mystery, with some spooky philosophy sprinkled on top and a fun Louisiana setting.

Rust is basically Sherlock Holmes, except he is a misanthrope on a revenge quest against life because his kid died, so he is fine doing weird stuff like going undercover for years to... stop people from sniffing a little blow or something. Or telling a kid-killer in custody that she should kill herself. And many fans probably think that this is great, rather than it just being an indication that Rust is a mental case who should be nowhere near a police force.

Marty is a narcissist and terrible father with severe anger management issues and almost no self-awareness, who destroys his own family and generally speaking has the emotional maturity of a 12 year old playground bully. But he punches people, so many fans probably think he is really cool and stuff. Big man go punch punch.

After spending half the show building up to a jealousy subplot making these two finally get tired of each other and split up, the show then hurriedly has them get back together and, in a rush, actually somewhat solve the big mystery that they had previously been desultorily pursuing while having various tangential hi-jinks. So they did help to stop some child abuse, which is good, but I had to watch like five hours of them being buttholes to get there. Then the show abruptly and incongruently ends on an upbeat note for some reason.

It's a pretty good show, but I wouldn't say I have any desire to re-watch it.

You're right about the characters, they're supposed to be flawed and very much not anyone you wanna be like. Both were completely miserable ppl.

They also specifically show how their lives turned out. Rust is a full blown alcoholic who randomly hallucinates and lives in squallor, and Marty is a lonely guy eating frozen dinners and going on boomer dating sites, and it seems his daughters want nothing to do with him.

This case was all they had left, and they really didn't even solve it. They just killed the guy who did the deed. I always saw it as two men who fricked up everything else in their life, and no matter how cynical they sounded were desperate for a purpose

I agree with your analysis, these two characters were probably not written to be role models or anything.

thinking about it the setting is really a lot of why its so cool, rural LA is a unique unexplored place, we have all seen cop dramas in los angeles or wherever

I tried rewatching it a few times and I never really got far. That said the main reason you'd watch is for the performances of the leads which are top notch and the script which is a great vehicle for the performances (not a great story, just some good rambling and banter between the leads). People think you can just stick some diversity hire in a role and it'll work don't realize how important the performances are, and how people of colors and women are narcissists who lack empathy so they can really only play themselves in movies. Basically if it's not starring a magnetic white guy it's not kino.

My bet is season one would flopped if not for the input of Cary Joji Fukunaga. Japanese people are just better at creating art and story telling.

That Spanish b-word is so fricking ugly and 90% of the first episode was her having a nasty attitude in response to everyone . how hard is it to have attractive people in leads anymore

I simply cannot stand watching shows that have a bitchy female main character or even a side character that is bitchy for too long, especially if they are lesbian.
