I have to thank the shitty WoT show, because it got me out of my reading slump by prompting a reread of WoT. Which led me to read my new favorite series, The Wandering Inn, which is three times as long.

What is the wandering inn about?

High fantasy. Isekai'd woman is lost, finds an abandoned Inn that she gets up and running. Starts at a casual pace, almost like slice-of-life, and builds to epic scale. Huge world and history to explore. Kinda hard to explain because it is character focused, and telling the larger plot would be spoilers for the slow burn.

It's LitRPG, but done well. It's a less crunchy system than even Sanderson stuff. No stats or menus, just names given to skills/classes.

The Antinium and Goblins are my favorite parts.

It's a book. LitRPG. The magic system is like levels and classes.

Basically like Eastern lit where some dude has a dozen magic karate moves with quirky names.

Some LitRPG does stats and system menus which is stupid, TWI does it closer to fantasy magic.

Basically junk food fantasy for the most part. Hard for the world to feel compelling when you see something like this every several chapters. But can be fun for a pallete cleanser. They usually have fast power growth, which is what brings in the adhd zoomers.

(I'll still simp for The Wandering Inn actually being stellar fantasy)

Reading a textbook on the drying of mud would feel interesting after reading WoT.

Yeah ... I'm not sure how I fixated on it as a teen to constantly reread it. I don't care for the weather and fashion reports that much.

Btw the "Mother of Learning" guy started a new series and the worldbuilding is pretty good.

Good to hear. Loved Mother of Learning, the world building there managed to keep a timeloop story from getting stale.
