I think Furiosa flopping megahard might have something to do with it .

Fury Road lost money overall. They couldn't get it into China. It only made like 150 in the US. George Miller (cute twink who hasn't practiced in years) then decided to start a needless lawsuit over money to which he had no reasonable claim. Tom Hardy's Max was also a very different character. He was more like a sad Max. The setting also became cartoonish. Furiosa was just the latest dumbass decision in a line of dumbass decision.
Mad Max > Road Warrior >> Tina Turner >>> Fury Road

Nah, Thunderdome was the best. I rewatched Mad Max 2, and it was pretty underwhelming. I saw it 10+ years ago, and remembered it fondly, but... .
The first one was always dull. Much potential and good for a low budget film, but overall?
!kino, thots on the Mad Max trilogy?

Way to kill the franchise, ladies!
Question: How many creative properties have b-words ruined?
Answer: All of them, because Eve fricked it up from the get go. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Eve corrupted Adam and Satan in the garden.

I can understand why you'd need a prequel for Furiosa's story but why would you make the next film about Max a prequel too?

We already had a Mad Max prequel called Mad Max

Enough with the Mad Maxxing already. Maybe he should collab with some mangaka and draw a manga instead.
Or heck, create a sequel for Hokuto No Ken, it's better than his shit film anyway.
