For the first half of the video I think they are seeing all the pieces but not really putting it together. While the anti-woke types exist, especially among the likes of the rage bait grifters like Shapiro. The reason it becomes such a hot button issue for something like the Acolyte is because the creators of the show and certain media will dismiss all criticism of show as coming from the anti-woke when in reality the majority of people who don't like it don't like it because it just isn't very good. This just fans the flames.

Mike and Rich seem to be falling into this trap. They recognize that the 2016 Ghostbusters was bad but are still buying into the idea that much of the criticism is because it was a female lead cast, but that was just the narrative put forward by those involved with the movie to deflect criticism.

My take is that RLM doesn't see (or wont publicly admit) the connection between "it sucks not because it has diversity but because its poor quality writing" with "just hire lesbian woman"

The people now running the system arent just blinded by politics and overlooking talented writers. They purposefully ignore that dynamic to pursue some 'higher' ideal, like writing, entertainment, and customer-bases will figure themselves out - merely because they work at a wildly profitable mega corp which is successful, so will continue to be successful regardless of who they hire.

They dont see movies, or companies, or the world as the sum of its people but as this preordained power system that needs to be reinvented. So they fundamentally have no respect for talent or quality.

TLDR: women
