Chick Tracts were right wing comics where the author portrayed ever leftoid character as a strawman and all the dialogue and themes consisted of subtextless, author worldview-affirming storylines about how playing DnD made you a satanist and stuff like that. The Boys does the same thing except watching Fox News will make you shoot up a school and every rightoid character is written by a guy who thinks he still lives in 2004

I think a big part of it is that they're working off a twenty year old story that was pretty explicitly satirizing the War on Terror (meaning lots of stereotypes of neo-cons that haven't really been relevant to the Republican party in over a decade), while also trying to tie it into the Current Threat to Democracy that is Orange Man (who, love him or hate him, is decidedly not a neo-con). It creates this weird mix of the religious right, hawkish politicians, and comically fascistic types.
