I think it's more than that. Superhero films are dead after almost 15 years of dominance, movies based on fantasy/scifi aren't pulling their weight and they don't know where to go next. The big flaw in the movie is that you were supposed to sympathize with her boyfriend and friends constantly undermining her career, when they really just come off as selfish buttholes. I agree with one of the posters that a sequel that address the fact she has terrible taste in boyfriends/friends would have been more interesting, and that nobody wants to see Miranda Priestly laid low (unless she's gloriously Machiavellian the entire film and wins).
