Thoughts on Matrix 4 Resurrections?

I liked the meta stuff in the first act but then it just becomes a boring and mediocre action movie---seemingly purposefully so.

Slop. Ever since they trained out the Waschowskys (whatever it's written) can't write shit.

The film felt like a parody, How I Met Your Mother guy was a lame villain, the Agent Smith actor has nothing of the original Smith's mannerisms and dialogue. Keanu Reeves can't act but he's even more wooden on his last role as Neo, Jada Pickett Smith looked like Jack Sparrow, and the 30 seconds flashback on the machine civil war was more interesting than the main plot itself.

I'm a defender of 2 and 3 but Resurrections is awful.

Also the new Morpheus did a decent job of copying Lawrence Fishburne but Smith was all wrong. I looked it up and the actor said he studied Hugo Weaving's performance but decided not to try and recreate it. He ended up being as generic as possible so idk what anyone was thinking there

dog shit, even 2,3 though not as good as 1 were watchable

We're living in a society where everything has to be perfect. We consume social media and marketing is shoved down our throats on a daily basis. We are at a point now where we have become oblivious to it. I think the intention of the movie was to bring us back to our imperfect and terrible reality. We watch movies to escape it but when we watch something that is our own reflection, we are disgusted. The cast were purposely bad, the storyline was purposefully meaningless. The jokes were purposefully cringe. Lana knew exactly what she wanted to do. Make one of the worst reboots ever and she achieved her goal. I think it's one of the reasons why Lawrence wasn't invited back. But here's the thing, the fact that the movie is bad beyond words makes it revolutionary. It wakes us up. This movie was making fun of modern society. The terrible jokes, the catrix, the awful acting, the nonsensical storyline was all purposely planned. Lana knew everyone would hate it and talk about how bad it was. and that was the whole point. People are going to pick apart this movie for the next 100 years trying to understand why it was made the way it was and what we can learn from it.

If you turn your movie into an ironic self-aware statement on bad sequels, it's still a bad movie. If only you thought to truly subvert that trope by making something good.

Forgettable.

Didn't watch it after my mate who absolutely loves even Revolutions came back from the cinema and said it was only ok, not that I really had any hopes for it anyway.

But I was giggling at the unsubtle mockery of Hollywood reboots complete with a jab at Warner Bros

If they had made the whole film a shitpost against WB I would have been there day 1 however
