Man those were fricking great. Judge Dredd was better though and I don't understand the seemingly universal sentiment that the 2012 one was somehow superior. But both really were great.

I love Judge Death, but I don't think the other three dark judges add much, and more often than not their presence just end ups diluting Judge Death's fantastic single-minded insanity.
Btw, Judge Death's best appearance was in the Batman/Judge Dredd crossover, Judgement in Gotham, tho I haven't read much Judge Dredd since the late 90s so he might have had better stories since then.

I preferred the old Judge Dredd movie to the 2012 one. Mostly because the new one featured practically no actual judging. You could replace Dredd with any generic action movie character and the film doesn't really change.

The old movies plot actually hurt it. An overarching conspiracy that threatens the very fabric of society as we know it actually is less world building than a single day in the life as a judge. Rob Schneider was great in it as well as demolition man, the superior scifi stallone cop movie.

You really need to watch The Raid if you haven't already, the first Judge Dredd movie just basically ripped it off fwiu (I didn't watch Judge Dredd). I have honestly never seen anyone kick butt as hard as that kid in Raid Redemption the fight scenes are absolutely brutal and incredible to watch.

Dredd was pretty good. I liked that it was just a "day in the life" of this future hellhole and made no attempt at a broader narrative or trying to "fix it." Dredd doesn't save the world, he just saves one building.
