Driven by interest into the venerable franchise, The Acolyte got off to a strong start when it launched June 4 with two episodes, generating 4.8M views in its first day on the streamer to rank as the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year. The tally rose to 11.1 million views globally after five days of streaming. Corroborating Disney's data, the series made its debut on Nielsen's Top 10 originals chart in its premiere week at #7 (488 million minutes viewed), climbing to #6 the following week
But The Acolyte could not sustain the momentum, dropping out of the Top 10 in Week 3 and staying off before returning after the release of the finale at #10 (335M minutes, believed to be the lowest for a Star Wars series finale).

Can't believe Deadline aren't naming the Disney employee leaking info to them in the article

Pretty rare they have to admit one of their streaming shows was a failure. Usually they can at least hide behind not having to publish ratings.

Means the numbers were way worse than expected.

Says more about the state of the audience than the ability of the show writers tbh

They had to straight up delete a few shows from their service because it was more cost effective to not pay the residuals for shit they made

That's awesome the numbers must've been beyond terrible to justify that cause streaming residuals are already minuscule compared to regular TV

No, it was the trolls who convinced Disney it cancel it. Sure they may have had hard viewership data, but all the misogynists tricked them into not believing their own numbers.

The trolls are simultaneously both powerless but able to bend the multibillion dollar Iron Mouse to their will.
Is there a specific name to this media-based subcategory of 'my enemy is simultaneously weak but all powerful'?

They can't keep it completely secret unless their share price is so awesome that the stockholders don't ask any questions. The market's good in general right now, but entertainment companies are doing anywhere from so/so to shitty, so the numbers have to come out.
