Wake up !kino time to discuss the fall of Star slop again
Nothing juicy in the /r/boxoffice thread yet but I get the feeling some of these comments might yield some sneed
Seeing all the comments saying "Andor was the only good thing Disney made." Honestly, it makes perfect sense that you like Andor so much. Andor was a cold, miserable, deadly serious show - in other words, it perfectly matches exactly the kind of people Star Wars fans are. The most abysmally hateful and toxic people ever.
On toxic Star Wars fans a lot of it is due to Disney. Acolyte you see a press tour of people saying Star Wars is sexist and racist. Rey movie director is a feminist activist documentary director. Disney reminds me of vegan activist. I'm vegan and I cringe at how vegans try to convert people. These feminist activist are just making people hate feminism.
Just frick all of you people. I genuinely can't take this fandom anymore. THE. WORST. FRICKING. FANDOM. EVER.

EPISODE VII WAS THEIR MOST SUCCESSFUL FILM IN TERMS OF MONEY-MAKING.
JJ ABRAMS AND THE MARKETING TEAM BANKED HARD ON NOSTALGIA AND IT WORKED, BUT BECAUSE THAT FILM WAS ALREADY POISONED AND THE SEQUELS AND DISNEY+ SHLOCK SHOWS FOLLOWED THE SAME FORMULA IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR THE AUDIENCE TOO STOP CARING.
!WRITECEL SOY WARS SEQUELS SHOULD BE A CASE OF STUDY FOR TERRIBLE FRANCHISE WRITING AND CHARACTERS.

I wonder if they'll actually get that new Rey movie to theaters or cancel it like they did with the other announced movies
It would probably bomb hard at this point

The director's only non-documentary credits are some animated Pakistani children's movies and directing 2 episodes of Ms. Marvel. It's going to suck so bad.

You know, the Rey character could have worked if they had developed her properly instead of making her the foid Messiah. Daisy Ridley is not a bad actress but her character is extremely one-dimensional.

Comparing Rey to Luke, I realized Luke wasn't a very deep or complex character either. He works though because he's a simple and sympathetic protagonist surrounded by interesting characters and neat stuff
Rey just needed to be a vessel for the audience to experience another neat setting so the sequels being so flat and underdeveloped hurts her character.
And Luke's biggest relationship was with Vader, which was interesting. Rey's biggest relationship was with Kylo and it felt like something out of a fanfic so there's no emotional grounding for the trilogy

if the last movie had hardcore full penetration everything visible s*x between Rey and Kylo it would have been a significantly better movie

IT ALSO TOOK LUKE 3 FILMS UNTIL HE COULD BEAT VADER AND EVEN SO THE EMPEROR ALMOST WRECKED HIM. PLUS ON THE FIRST FILM LUKE CLAIMS THEY DON'T NEED HAN SOLO TOO GET TOO ALDERAN AND THAT HE CAN PILOT A SHIP, TOO WHICH HAN LAUGHS AND OBI-WAN IS LIKE "SHUT-UP KID, THIS IS SERIOUS" WHILE REY SEEMS TOO KNOW THE FALCON BETTER THAN HAN.
JUST MAKE HER LEARN STUFF FROM OTHER MORE MATURE AND EXPERIENCED CHARACTERS!
LUKE WAS COMPLETELY BUTCHERED BY RIAN JOHNSON. HE WENT FROM "I WON'T KILL @nuclearshill'S EVIL MURDEROUS FATHER, I'LL BRING HIM BACK TOO THE LIGHT" TOO "I'M GONNA KILL @nuclearshill'S TEENAGE NEPHEW ON HIS SLEEP BECAUSE HE'S CHATTING WITH SOME DARK LORD ON FORCE 4CHAN"

Shameless Ctrl+v ing an earlier comment:
Luke is whiny and needs to shut the frick up. Rian Johnson handled the character faithfully because he was still a useless c*nt 40 years later and I'm glad Johnson killed him

They just needed a 16-minute long s*x scene that does absolutely nothing to advance the plot. Just Kylo Ren, the most confirmed swole dude in Star Wars, slamming her head into the bedframe and grunting like an ape the entire time.
I have a script prepared for serious Hollywood producers only

Luke works because he's literally just the Hero in the Hero's Journey. He's an interchangeable plot device from a story structure that prints money.

One problem is Daisy Ridley actually thinks Rey is a great character, and that people who don't like her are sexists who hate strong women. So she just fundamentally misunderstands how to bring a character to life.
You can blame a lot of it on bad writing or directing, but a better actress would have brought more vulnerability and depth to the role
There's zero indication after the 40 minute mark of TFA that Rey actually likes any of her "friends." She barely tolerates them. In TROS she treats them basically like NPC followers. So much of what separates the tough-but-vulnerable heroine from the girlboss ubermensch is in the subtler details of the performance
