James Cameron is an expert at activating normie audiences so I expect Avatar 3 to make over 2 billion again while the audiences still struggle to remember the names of the characters.

But they will probably land some giant robot that will slowly walk towards a super-volcano to succ the heat out of the planet in order to power a human Mega-Survival-Arc-Ship in orbit.
Then Jake will connect to a mother tree and animate it to chuck a giant spear at the robot. The robot will explode spilling lava all overt the place, then the film will end with plants budding from the cooled off magma signaling the rebirth of the planet.

It has huge brand recognition, when you say Avatar you need to specify when speaking of the bald child one, not the Blue People one. I too expect it to be a success.

Not just brand recognition, look at the evolution of the Avatar Box office. Unlike marveshit which burns almost half of it's cartridges on the opening week, the Avatar films had much smaller opening weekends while keeping constant sales tickets and small drops over the course of weeks. The first Avatar only made 77 million dollars on it's opening weekend (US and Canada) and ended up grossing 749 million domestically (US and Canada). The Avengers (2012), made over 200 million on it's opening weekend and grossed 600 million final (both on the domestic box office).
Avatar has something which manages to draw people watching it more than once or casual audiences by word of mouth.

Idk how avatar 2 was actually received, but I could imagine if it wasnt that great that part 3 will do significantly worse that 1&2. Not super bad, cause its still decent turn-off-your-brain entertainment, but worse still.

I intentionally avoided that term, because I don't believe the first film actually had no impact (and it's a very soy thing to say). I remember it quite well and often, it looked amazing for it's time and became a benchmark for CGI in other films for me (and not a favorable one).

I wish it was like Last of the Mohicans, at least the Indians on that movie weren't noble savages and had agency (siding with scheming frogs, burning a guy alive, kidnapping and possibly possibly willing to r*pe two young foids).
