It's important to marginalize binge drinking in public, and punish establishments that allow it to happen.

My hope is that the restaurant doesn't just pretend to do some renovations and reopen like nothing happened. In my experience restaurants are very good at concealing these events…I don't know if that's changed.

keep yourself safe cute twink.

Normalise binge drinking in public TODAY

What they call binge drinking is pathetic. Those bong wenches who drink a bottle of voddy and shit themselves at the bus stop while sucking off a stranger for some chips, now that's binge drinking.

Apparently he had 18 shots in 4 hours, which is definitely binge drinking

Still incredibly based though

Cucks argue that bartenders are responsible for cutting people off before they get too drunk to drive

Bartenders do have some responsibility to avoid overserving under the law, but not generally to the point of keeping customers "legal to drive." Regardless, I expect that the bartender will be held partly at fault for serving someone 18 shots in 4 hours. That is beyond "let me call you a cab" and well into "let me call you an ambulance."

Yeah that's like 2/3rds an entire bottle of liquor, dude should have been cut off after like 8 shots

It's a cuck law and therefore invalid

Nah that's called a serious medical issue and lack of control.

You probably shouldn't be drinking eight shots when you're 14.

I've been interrogated on my fitness to drive before after just like 3 beers.

You fricking moron, look at the street address on my ID, it's a 10 minute walk away on the same street. Of course I didn't drive here you ignorant snivelling shitpig. Get me a drink wagie.

I complained about it at work and some old bag started asking me if I supported drunk drivers or something. No, you coffin dodging old hag, I just want to drink 6 pints without some ingrate questioning why I'm keeping their bar in business.

I was polite but I did express my incredulity that despite being a 10 minute walk away she was still assuming I drove.

I eventually got the drink but didn't enjoy it.

He would have driven into the curb at 5mph and wrecked his steering linkage or smth instead. Driving while stoned out of your gourd is much different than drunk

Canada has been super anti-drinking for a long time. My great grandmother had all her children taken and sent to (different) workhouses because she was caught with a still

my grandparents generation had a unknown quota of booze they could buy in a set time frame (again not told to them) which if surpassed would mean they were banned from buying it ever again (Tho this was mainly used again women, northerners and Indians)

Our bars (at least where i live) have to buy their booze at retail prices from the control board, meaning your drink has a 100% markup before the bar even buys it

It was 15 years before the siblings were reunited, their mother and one brother had died by that point.

Not only do we not get reconciliation pay whenever the idea is floated uppity indians chimpout as if they were the only peoples ever forced into workhouses and boarding schools

https://old.reddit.com/r/ontario/comments/1b84y0l/mother_of_man_overserved_alcohol_at_kelseys/ktmt0xu/?context=8#thing_t1_ktmt0xu

The mother of a 22-year-old man from Burk's Falls, Ont., is speaking out less than two years after his death in a car crash after leaving a Kelsey's restaurant where the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario says he was over-served alcohol.

“We heard that he had been served 18 ounces. We don't drink, so we didn't have any clue what that meant. So when we came home, we poured out a bunch of glasses, and it was probably the hardest point we had as a family to look at that,” said Colton Orr's mother, Tina Moore.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) alleges staff at the Huntsville restaurant served him 18 shots of liquor in under four hours.

“During that period, the customer showed increasing signs of intoxication, yet staff continued serving alcohol to the customer until closing time,” according to a statement by the AGCO.

The commission says the customer drove away after last call and crashed their car “within minutes.”

I hope everyone working that night is charged to the fullest extent of the law for their actions.

Oh fuck off. Man wanted to drink, they gave him drink. What he did afterwards was entirely on him.

The AGCO was seeking a 60-day liquor licence suspension but reached a settlement with Kelsey's in which the establishment will serve a 45-day liquor sales licence suspension starting March 18.

JFC, they're waiting until after St Patricks Day where the bar will make BANK.

FUCK KELSEYS.

Based.

I have more sympathy for some bartender trying to make ends meat than I do for someone who willingly drank and got into the car and drove.

I'm not happy he is dead. Far from it. I have sympathy for him and his family. But this was his own fault.

I do not. Not when making ends meet leads to someone dying. The law says the server and establishment are also at fault.

Who gives a fuck what the law says? This is entirely on him and his retard parent who never taught their son to responsibly enjoy his drink.

If the poor just-making-ends-meet bartender hadn't overserved the patron, the patron wouldn't be dead today.

Literally no such thing as overserving. Does not exist. Entirely made up.

Overdrinking at Kelseys is almost as lame as overdrinking at Smittys.

Speaking of which, I tore my rotator cuff after they "overserved" me at Smittys. I was already drunk when I arrived, and the server gave me more drinks than she was allowed to, because I'm a charming and amicable drunk. Then I wiped out on the bike ride home. Should I sue?
