What law did they break by closing shop and leaving? You can't force them to stay and keep losing money, can you?

They weren't losing money, and they never said they were losing money.

They closed all the warehouses in response to one of them unionizing. Closing the one that unionized would have been very obvious retaliation and against the law (Walmart got slapped for this a few years back). Closing all of them lends them a very thin veneer of plausible deniability that it was just a "business decision".

Basically, unless some leaked internal communications surface demonstrating that the closure was in direct response to the unionization, Amazon will be in the clear.

Or it was a real business decision to not be beholden to and dragged over the coals by a bunch of replaceable drones most of who are probably TFWs anyways
