11/22/63 is pretty great. Funnily enough the ending is pretty good as well, and it turns out his son (author Joe Hill) was the one who suggested that ending after reading the initial draft

I'd be willing to give it a chance. After The Dark Tower IV I started to lose interest, but in retrospect maybe that saved me from the disappointment of Robert Jordan and George R.R. Martin. I quit Wheel of Time halfway through the 6th book and never picked up any of the Game of Thrones books.

The Dark Tower gets really weird around the fifth book, Once Stephen King himself becomes a character in the books (literally) I almost quit but I wound up shrugging my way to the end. The series does end in a satisfying way at least

Dark Tower is worth finishing if you're invested in the characters in any way, but not worth it just to say you did.
Pretty much everything after that I'd consider questionable based on the half dozen or so I read like Bag of Bones
And yeah, DDR really broke his brain. He went from "the CIA is running LSD experiments on unsuspecting college students to see if they develop latent psychic abilities, and then brutally murder anyone who threatens to expose them" to "get the jab or bear the moral responsibility of murdering everyone's grandma"

probably the best thing he's written this century. i did like cell and under the dome, but generally everything he's written past 1996 (that i've read at least.) which is when the green mile, desperation, and the regulartors came out, has been...not great.

Stephen King is still a high tier short story writer. He's good in a format where he doesn't have to write coherent endings. I loved the story about the neurodivergent r-slur with Death Note like abilities in Everything's Eventual. Highly recommend.
