Most disappointing book relative to expectations?

What's the worst book you've ever read, discounting self published crap?

I bought my mom Jo Watson's Among Others half a decade ago for mother's day.

I didn't know much about the industry :marseydunce: so I thought that it winning the Hugo meant it had to be at least of decent quality. It was so bad that she said it had to read it too :marseyxd:

300 pages of the most pretentious precious child crap :marseyxd:

Hamlet, I know it's a play, but I was still disappointed with it.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is way better.

Had that experience with Midsummer Night's Dream. Learned I don't really care for Shakespeare even though I understand how important he was for culture.

I overall enjoyed Hamlet except the ending is way too fricking long.

It should just end when the English dudes arrive and see the dead bodies and just be like "oh shit." END SCENE.

But no they have to drag it on.

I liked how they all died. Also rather than a brooding goth kitty Hamlet was surprisingly cool.
