To discuss the 5th chapter of our bookclub current pick, "Petersburg" by Andrey Bely.
Nikolai Apollonovich and a glowie go to a bar, hilarity ensues. The footnotes mentioned that Bely referenced Dostoevsky and it shows, Pavel Yakovlevich conversation with Nikolai parallels that of Profiry Petrovich from C&P with Rodion Raskolnikov.

Not much to say about this one. Feels like the story is finally beginning. I think I need to reread Nikolai's dream though cuz I tend to lose focus when he starts ranting about Mongolians.

On a separate note, Russians are so neurodivergent with the patronymic thing, Sofya Petrovna still calling her own husband Sergei Sergeevich for instance. I know that it is the formal way of address in Russian but is still funny.
Scene from a Russian space slop (Gagarin !spacechads) to give an idea.
