It is, there are a couple on the list I like re-read every few years, but its up there with my re-reads of Harry Potter, not not worthy or something to be proud of.

It's been a while, but aren't like 3 or 4 of these ~150 pages too? Like reading a book a week isn't a challenge to see who has the most words viewed, but if you're reading books in 1-2 sittings regularly, maybe consider something more substantial. Also somewhat telling everything is either the best known book by the author or the first in a series. There's no attempt to work through the complete story just 'hrmph hrmph, I read le intellectual book.' Like Foundation 1 isn't even the good one, same for Hitchhikers. Orwell has written other things, and 2001 is pretty much a recount of the movie and you might as well skip to 2010 (then never read the other 2 books). His list reeks of looking up lists of deep books on /r/coolreading

i just never really liked Brave New World. 1984 is just dystopias version of foundation where the worldbuilding is way better than the actual story.

Foundation has one actually good character in it and he was the unironic basis for JarJar. I love the worldbuilding but it's somehow a snooze fest of a story.

That is a pretty accurate description, and I really like it. It's a very unique book series

There's a couple I'm not familiar with, but the ones I am are all good books, dramatards are just contrarian NPCs. It's absolutely fair game to mock Lex for posting this as his reading list though, most people who would read these would have done so by their mid-20's. As with everything he does, he approaches this as a midwit attempting to earn good boy points for being smart from aspirational r-slurs.

How the frick is the reading list of a 40-something "public intellectual" :marseycosmopolitan: the same as my 9th grade English class?

Like many of these are good books, and there's no shame in re-reading a classic or having missed a few "canonical" books over your lifetime, but this whole list for a grown-butt man...and one who is trying to flex his bigbrain :marseysmoothbrain: ?

:marseysmug2: either he's lying to his r-slur followers, or he genuinely thinks this looks impressive. I'm not which is more embarrassing.
