I've always felt it's weird that the leafpeople have been doing this since like 2017 or something yet no outcry happened until this year

The Dutch used to be the leaders in being way too eager to bump off anyone who is sick. The Canadians only just recently took first place by offering euthanasia to anyone who is sad or having a bad day. Iiirc it's only in 2023 that they start executing patients for having depression, so we're only seeing the beginning of it.

I believe it's the courts fault. It started out as only for the truly terminally ill, but someone cried discrimination because depression is just as valid as cancer.
