I don't like the vertical blurriness. I played with adjustments for 5 minutes in paint dot net, I think I like the result somewhat better, though it's far from what an actual photoshopcel could do.

Yeah that looks real good, though it looks more Monet than Van Gogh. I've been using pixlr.com/e. I played with a bunch of settings to try to get some sort of "brushstroke" effect. I think combining what you did with a slight vertical blur would get the full effect.

For the record, I used:

  1. slight sharpen
  2. oil painting effect lol, with a brush size 2. In retrospect I could have gone much lighter on that.
  3. Increased hue a bit and decreased brightness
  4. and then went to "Levels" and increased the minimum brightness to like 15% with the curve aligning back with the diagonal about halfway up.

Maybe it can do with a bunch of noise and less oil painting effect, because the details on all other stuff are much smaller, yes.

In photoshop you can frick around with layer blending to get the painting texture on Marsey and the image on the texture.

Could probably even save the script and run it on any art.

I took another swing at the layers, including the previous blur. I added smoothing, then grain, then mosaic.

Now it's better than mine in texture, but I suggest doing what I did with levels -- I think it's too bright and could use more hue, but then you'd have to make the dark parts less dark.

plus it's always a choice to keep Marsey's borders or not
