As far as theme and concept go it's great, but everything else about Dune is super clumsy tbh. Frank is wordier than he needs to be and the story DRAGS from start to finish. The Harkonnen invasion, hinted at from the beginning, is treated as background noise when it finally happens. Then for the next half we get a whole lot of characters scrutinizing each other but don't really have anything interesting to say.
