Is it just me or does no one use awards anymore?

Feels like ever since the casino was added people just goomble their DC and no one buys anything from the shop.

Either that or the changes preventing jannies from printing awards... which is somehow worse cause it means jannies were the only ones using them :marseyyikes:

I mean it's a mixture of both. People are broke all of the time and I'm not spending my own DC unless it's for a very fricking good cause which barely anyone on this site ever approaches doing anything worth upmarseying let alone spending DC on.

Dataset starting 2022-06-25 since that's when we started keeping detailed data on time-of-award. Anything prior to that gets really speculative (have to base it off time of authorship of awarded post/comment or something). See charts below, second one vertically truncated so Homoween doesn't swamp all the detail. Raw data. (cc: @coof)

Coins spent in shop is a pretty decent proxy, though we do have people with substantial reserves of unused awards from the days of printing, from lootboxes, or similar. Also have a leaderboard for quantity awards received by user. Total award value per user is kind of a pain to calculate, because award prices change over time and we don't currently track what people paid for them originally.

I can't turn off poor mode. Seriously, @Aevann if people can use poor mode to avoid awards then poor mode needs to go. I only turned it off at Homoween so I could use the site at work.

Well, it doesn't work for me. I can't turn it off. Everytime I do it tells me my settings have been updated and then the next time I go back poor mode is switched back on again.

I guess I will have to live without seeing Mr. Milos gyrate across my screen ever again.
