Yes it can be frustrating if you actually want to have a proper discussion with someone and they just peace out - especially if it's about something that matters and it leaves the situation unresolved, like, you're trying to sort out a family disagreement that keeps coming up and nobody seems able to get over - but I doubt this is that sort of situation. Why so invested, man.

I’m afraid you have a terminal case of taking the internet seriously. Almost every chud post I’ve made is either entirely ironic or exaggerated for comedic effect, and I assume this is the case for most people here. I’m not saying there are not those who are likely legitimately garbage people irl with hearts full of hate on this site, but I would wager it’s a minority. Call them an edgy cute twink and move on with your day dude.

I mean, if you spend a lot of time getting into debates/arguments on the internet for intellectual engagement you ought to know by now that a lot of people will bail out rather than concede. That just goes with the territory. Back when I used to do that more I's consider it a win if my writing and argumentation was better and more coherent than the other guy and remember that the audience (imaginary or not) is who I'm really trying to convince, not necessarily the opponent, who may well be too invested in their position to have their mind changed.

Internet debates are really speechwriting practice. Consider it that way. Even formal debates have an audience and judges. It's about making your point coherently and having a defensible position.
